About North Royalton
A great place to call home since 1818

Sitting on the southern border of Cuyahoga County, the City of North Royalton is home to some 31,000 residents as of the 2020 census. Founded in 1818, the original name Royalton is attributed to Knight Sprague for a town in his native Vermont. It was later changed to North Royalton to distinguish the city from another similarly-named town in Ohio.
Among its many amenities, the city maintains the southernmost stretch of the Cleveland Metroparks Emerald Necklace, the system of public parks that connects Scenic Park at the north end of the Rocky River Reservation, south through Mill Stream Run Reservation and east to Brecksville Reservation and the Towpath Trail.
North Royalton is uniquely situated with easy access to nearby communities of Strongsville, Middleburg Heights, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Parma and Hinckley. The North Royalton public school system is highly rated for its consistent fiscal health, academic performance, and graduation rates.
