Out walking in Ward 1 and meeting residents has provided some of the best experiences of the summer, and I am very grateful for the Ward 1 residents that have taken the time to speak with me when I knock on their door. Much of Ward 1 has no sidewalks or bike paths, and some of the roads are a bit narrow with deep ditches on either side. Walking in these parts of Ward 1 is simple, just stay out of the road, and be respectful of home owners and their property.
When I started canvassing in the less-hilly parts of North Royalton, I decided to try using my Trek 720 hybrid bicycle, a sturdy frame that I’ve ridden for years on the towpath trail. While a bit challenging, motorists have been watchful, and I’ve tried to keep to driveways and let cars pass before taking up the road to go from one house to the next. Very useful for some of the properties that have very long driveways! And it has been fun to meet with other bikers, both bicyclist and motorcyclists. There is a lot of two-wheel enthusiasm in Ward 1 North Royalton!

The long stretches of good weather have been really great for getting out to meet people, and if you’re a resident of Ward 1, I hope to be knocking on your door soon. Watch out for me on the bike, and give a beep and a wave or say hello if you see me!
